All individual plans run on a calendar year. This means that no matter when you enroll, your plan will renew on January 1. Benefits and premiums may change and deductibles will reset at that time. It’s important to understand that outside of Open Enrollment (November 1-December 15), you can only enroll in an individual plan within 60 days of a qualifying event that has caused a loss of coverage or has changed your family status—things like the birth of a child, etc.
The importance of comprehensive insurance benefits for individuals who don’t have the opportunity to participate in group coverage is one of the most pressing issues facing the nation today. With the advent of the Affordable Care Act, it is clear that there is a national movement to find an appropriate and cost-effective solution for the numerous individuals seeking a benefits solution for themselves and their families. We have spent many hours in training to better understand the complexities of the individual benefits market.
